By Aaron Klein, Chief Executive Officer

I just sent this message out to all of our Riskalyzers, and we wanted to share it with our customers, partners and friends as well.

Hey Riskalyzers,

As you know, one of our key partners is Private Advisor Group. One of their founders is John Hyland, and his cancer has relapsed. He’s in need of a bone marrow transplant, and his two sisters aren’t matches.

As a result, PAG has launched a campaign to get people to join the bone marrow donor registry. The process is simple: you fill out an online application, swab your cheeks a few times and send it back. There is then a 10% chance that you’ll be called on in the future to donate.

My initial reaction was — wow, I have to think about that. That kind of donation is very personal and there are good reasons why being a donor isn’t for everyone. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that if I had leukemia, I would hope everyone might be willing to have a 10% chance at donating 6-8 hours of their time (and a pain in the rear end) to keep me alive.

So I joined the registry. My kit will arrive soon, and I’ll be tweeting a photo under the hashtag #SwabForJohn as I follow the process for joining.

And our entire executive team has decided to take this step as well. They’ll be following the link below to join the registry and request their kit.

We wanted to open the opportunity to you. This is a highly personal decision, so there is zero judgment if you decide not to join us. But we’d like to tweet a photo on our company feed of everyone who decides to #SwabForJohn to help raise awareness for PAG’s campaign.

If you’d like to do so, you can follow this link for more information about PAG’s campaign, and then click through to join the registry and request your kit. Thanks for your consideration!

We hope you’ll consider joining us in supporting the #SwabForJohn campaign over the coming weeks.
